It's Not You, It's… Actually, It's Totally You

Hey there, fellow change-averse-but-hopeful soul! We've all been there. One day you're cruising along, convinced you've got it all figured out. Your job? Stable. Your workout routine? On point. Your homemade sourdough starter? Bubbling away happily. And then, BOOM! Change drop-kicks into your serene life. Suddenly, your boss wants you to relocate to Siberia, your gym introduces a "clown-only" hour that's right when you usually go, and your sourdough starter? Well, let's just say it's gone rogue.
The Yin and Yang of Change
Change, in its quintessential nature, is neither good nor bad. It just is. Like that aunt who insists on gifting you neon socks every Christmas. You don't hate the socks, but you never really pictured adding them into your weekly wardrobe - until you had them!
And isn't that the beauty of change? It reminds us that life isn't meant to be a monotonous playlist of the same five songs. (Although, shoutout to anyone who's still rocking the Cha Cha Slide.)
The truth is, while change can lead us to new, undiscovered passions and paths, it can also make us feel like a cat thrown into a bathtub full of rubber ducks. Unsettling? Yes. Hilariously chaotic? Absolutely.
Embracing The Predictable Unpredictability
What if we looked at change not as this daunting monolith, but as life's sneaky little way of shaking things up? The same way you shake that overpriced kale smoothie every morning. Think about it. You don't really know what's at the bottom of that bottle, but you shake it anyway, hoping for the best. (And yes, sometimes there's a stray piece of kale, but hey, extra fiber!)
We might not always have control over the change, but we do have control over our response. So, the next time change cartwheels into your life, throwing glitter and yelling, "Surprise!", maybe we can muster up the courage to do a forward-roll right alongside it. Or, at the very least, stand up, brush off the glitter, and say, "Alright, what’s next?"
Signing Off
Change is unpredictable, and yes, sometimes a wee bit dramatic (looking at you, 2020). But if there's one thing we can be certain of, it's this: change, with all its twists and twirls, makes our life story all the more worth telling. So here's to embracing the chaos, laughing in the face of uncertainty, and occasionally doing the Cha Cha Slide just for the heck of it.
Until next time, keep shaking that kale smoothie and remember, every change is a new chapter waiting to be written.
