Really Bad Timing

We’ve never had more sickness floating through our house than we have this past year. One week after bringing Kora home from the hospital, Brandon and I got hit with the WORST stomach flu either of us have ever had. Luckily, I got it second, so Brandon knew from his experience that I’d be wanting the dog bed in the bathroom to sleep on. There was no leaving the toilet. I even set up my breast pump in the bathroom so I could do the ‘ole pump and puke. It was a nightmare. Anyway, fast forward to last week. Gigi was on a trip, Gammy had to have cataract surgery, and Benny’s school was closed for some random holiday. Sweet. Okay, so we’re low on childcare - no big deal. But then, BAM. The stomach flu - AGAIN. I felt like Buddy the Elf when he found out his dad was on the naughty list. “Noooooooooooo!” Day one, Benny pukes IN OUR BED. Day two, the dog has explosive diarrhea in the kitchen. (Probably unrelated.) Day three, Kora gets hit. What are you supposed to do when a baby is vomiting? Hold them over a bucket? I didn’t know, so I just held her close and let the yuck flow all over me 3 minutes before a very important conference call. Day four, it’s my turn. At this point, poor Brandon is just waiting for the other shoe to drop. He started eating a super bland diet in anticipation of having to revisit whatever he recently ate. Good thing too because on day five - you guessed it - hubby got the bug. We all survived, but OH MY GAWD I hope we never have to go through that again. (I’m sure we will.)

Take the extra step to boost your immune system by adding in some nutritious food to your meal plan this week. Can you get a veggie on your plate (and eat it) at every meal?
